About the property

Owners comments:
"What's it like living on the common? Clean air, no light pollution, no chance of buildings springing up nearby, walks on your doorstep but a pub and village shop less than five minutes walk away. A bit like living in the New Forest in that from April to October there are cows grazing on the common. This means during this time that it is important to park cars in the driveway as cows are very nosey and will investigate your vehicle if given a chance.

It is lovely to pull back the curtains in the morning and see a row of cows looking over the fence!  It is great to be able to run and walk from the house without using a road that we will greatly miss.  It is also great being able to walk to the pub. The night skies here are incredible as there is so little light pollution.

Having the land at the back meant that when the children were little, we had orphan lambs as the land is big enough to rotate about five sheep.  We also kept chickens and my children had a thriving business selling eggs to passing walkers.  We have also kept a friends pony on the land."

Hamilton Parkers are delighted to be able to offer this rare opportunity to acquire this beautiful detached Grade II listed thatched cottage, with parts dating back approximately 400 years, overlooking the ancient rural common bounded by two arms of the River Test. Set within an idyllic setting, this characterful property was once the village local public house and provides excellent accommodation. The accommodation includes five bedrooms, three reception rooms, a spacious eat-in style kitchen/breakfast room, two bathrooms and an en-suite, a boiler/heat pump room and a conservatory/garden room. Presented in good decorative order throughout and oozing in character and charm with exposed solid wood flooring, wood doors, fireplaces and exposed beams, just to name a few. The garden is attractively landscaped and is approximately one acre and extends across neighbouring properties with additional vehicle access at the end to garaging and store. The garden backs onto open fields and countryside and there is an additional one and a half acre paddock which is offered as separate negotiation. Situated within the highly sought after historic village location of Chilbolton near Stockbridge.
