''We have lived in Little Hayes Lane for 23 years and have had the property since it was built by Berkeley Homes. It is one of 25 homes all built within a year or so of each other, and there are still 13 of the original owners living here.  It is a good community here. The common areas of land on our development such as the meadow, the banks of the lane and the green are managed by a residents’ group which has an AGM and get-together once a year in the village hall.  We have an annual gathering to sing Christmas carols outside a neighbour’s house and there is a biennial barbecue, organised by residents, and a long-standing book club.  There is a monthly local magazine that keeps everyone in touch with what’s happening in the area, and an email list (the Itchen List) has been set up for villagers in the area that has proved very useful in sharing information and for buying/selling/giving away items.  The neighbours are great, very helpful if needed but not ‘in your face'.  The village itself has got a well run pub with good food, and hosts various events including seasonal celebrations, televised sporting events and quizzes. The village hall is a great amenity.  Many events and activities have been enjoyed by us there over the years, including celebrations, parties, Zumba, choral society, annual flower show, boule, badminton, plays, concerts and quizzes.  The small primary school is delightful. The church has been modernised inside and also hosts occasional concerts. Being in the South Downs National Park, we have delightful walks in all directions, taking you across the river, through fields, conservation areas and along the old railway embankment along the Watercress Way.  The shopping amenities of Alresford and Winchester are 5 to 10 minutes away and the Kingsworthy Post Office delivers our paper.  All in all we have enjoyed our time living here immensely, and it is simply ‘time for us to move on’.''
